Much awaited era for solar power developers has started till April 2022. Domestic manufacturers have reached to the government for the same concern.

For AISIA (All India Solar Industries Association), ISMA (Indian Solar Manufacturers Association), and NIMMA (North India Module Manufacturer Association), three of the larger organized solar manufacturers bodies in the country, this is a crisis big enough to demand a meeting with the MNRE secretary, which they got yesterday, and a follow on with the power minister, MR R.K. Singh this week.

However, another barrier in the form of the ALMM (Approved List of Module Manufacturer) list was introduced. Government projects awarded before April 2021 have no barrier & this is where solar developers have a glooming chance.

Developers held their ground waiting for this blanket, now they can pick their shipments for the projects with no import duty till April 2022.

Any extension of the SGD can only happen at a lower rate, although that rate could be just a shade under the existing rate too. Possibly the best way out for now.
