Panchkula: Members of the Citizens Welfare Association (CWA) have sent a letter of application to the Minister of Energy of Haryana and the chief minister requesting the installation and approval of the solar power system in Panchkula in the Chandigarh patterns.
SK Nayar, president of the CWA, said VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab-cum-UT administrator, had adopted the Renewable Energy Service Company (Resco) model for installing solar panels on the rooftops of houses in Chandigarh for free as residents would not come to install the plant due to heavy investment.
Chandigarh Renewable Energy, Science and Technology Promotion Society (Crest) has decided to include solar-powered plants under the Resco brand. Nayar said, “In view of this project, the Haryana government should come up with a similar plan for Panchkula and other Haryana cities.”
CWA members also urged Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Energy Minister Ranjit Singh, Secretary-General Vijai Vardhan, Speaker Gian Chand Gupta to continue and adopt the solar power system in Panchkula as a city driving system and later accept the state.
