Schneider Electric on 25th November, Thursday launched its sustainability engagement initiative in India. The name of the initiative is Green Yodha, it will encourage businesses, industries and people to take concrete climate actions to tackle global warming and climate change.

This call from the organization will back the commitment of India made at Cop26 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During COP26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that India will be reducing carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes. The time frame set for the same is between 2021 and 2030.

Taking the pledge to be a Green Yodha, Madhav Singhania, Deputy Managing Director & CEO, JK Cement said in the statement, “to protect our planet we have set strong targets of 75 per cent green power and controlling CO2 emissions in cementitious product to 465kg/tonne by 2030.

Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog also appreciated the program which aims to provide designed energy solutions to enable industries to use innovative technologies to become energy sufficient and reduce the carbon footprint.

The group was also present at COP26 invited to speak at different key panels on its views and solutions necessary to meet the 1.5-degree trajectory set by the Paris Agreement, during which it distilled insights from its global decarbonization report entitled ‘Back to 2050, 1.5 is more feasible that we think’.
